Antwerp, Belgium, 27th April 2021 – The safety module of Skylegs platform is a thorough solution for Safety Management Systems (SMS) of air operators. It includes occurrence and hazard reporting, investigations, management of change analysis, and a dedicated management page for hazards, outcomes, and comprehensive risk assessment tools. Following the flexible nature of the platform, Skylegs offers a dedicated Safety package, that can be used standalone or in conjunction with other packages or modules.
The occurrence reports are in the European Coordination Centre for Accident and Incident Reporting Systems 2 (ECCAIRS 2) format, according to EASA standards. Through Skylegs, pilots, safety managers and other employees can choose from 3 types of report: flight operations, technical, or aerodrome and ground handling. They can be quickly downloaded in E5X format, which can be sent to the respective Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), it is not necessary to fill out the form from the official ECCAIRS website. Additionally, it is your choice to include your investigation details or not.
The threshold to send a report is low, as the report function can be accessed from any page of the platform. And if the occurrence is related to a flight, you may start a report right after completing the post-flight data. In this case, the report fields will be automatically filled with the aircraft specifications and flight details; the user will only need to focus on the details of the occurrence itself.
Multiple operators using the the safety module have mentioned that the number of reports raised after implementing the reporting procedure from Skylegs; not because the safety level lowered, but because it was much easier for pilots and other staff to build and send their reports.
The more the organisations can avoid logging in and out different platforms, the more efficient they become. And if their core platform encompasses a safety system, it becomes clear how to enrich the safety culture and spread it across departments.
